The final goal of HOPE's support for women who have been abandoned, widowed or abused, is to establish them in a small business that empowers them to be self reliant.
HOPE partners interview the women to discuss what sort of work suits their talents, health status, location, markets and community needs. Capital can be given as a loan, a gift from HOPE Gift Cards, or taken from widow sponsorship to start a small business.
Destitute families and older street kids in projects are often given help to start a business. These may include a vehicle washing bay, electronics, welding, roadside catering, a motorbike taxi, charcoal shop and more.
Sponsored HOPE secondary students who are not progressing academically are offered vocational training and then our goal is to establish them in a small business for self reliance.
