Jubilee School of HOPE, Bugadde, Uganda
HOPE Partner: Jubilee Christian Life Churches

Bugadde children scramble to see their image on our video camera.
Perhaps these will be our first students in the Jubilee School of HOPE.

This remote central Ugandan village has many orphans and needy children who
need medical support and are not in school because of the poverty. Our meeting with
Wilson Kulaba who leads the Jubilee churches was exciting as we viewed plans for
the development of a school and 'apartments' (small mudbrick cottages) where 8
orphans will live with a widow 'mum'. This has been a longstanding vision of HOPE
and Jubilee, and with the help of one of our partner churches, land has been
purchased and some materials are on site.
Our need is to secure another adjacent
plot of land so the future development will not be frustrated by the size and shape of
the present block. The children have worked out what's happening there and are
excited at the prospects of an education currently out of their reach.
The Jubilee Church in
Bugadde will oversee this project. The next phase of this project consists of:
- Purchase adjacent land at cost of $ 2,500AUD
- Construction of first apartment at cost of $10,000AUD
- Build first 2 classrooms for 60 children at cost of $12,000AUD
- Employ 2 teachers at $110AUD/month each
